Surface Pro Drops $100; Android Device Manager; WH Overturns USITC Ban

Topping tech headlines over the weekend, Microsoft slashed $100 from its Surface Pro tablet.
The discount lasts through Aug. 29, temporarily reducing the total cost of the Surface Pro to $799 for the 64GB version and $899 for 128GB. Redmond's move comes on the heels of last month's price drop for the Surface RT, which saw the 32GB version's price slashed from $499 to $349, while the 64GB iteration was cut from $649 to $499. In late July, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer admitted, "We built a few more devices than we could sell."
Meanwhile, Google on Friday unveiled the long-awaited Android Device Manager service, which will roll out to users later this month. The Android version of Apple's Find My iPhone, Google's Device Manager is intended to help users find a missing or stolen device. The service can ring your phone at maximum volume to find it, even if left in silent mode; it also includes an online map to locate a device in real time. In the event your phone or tablet can not be recovered, or has been stolen, you can easily erase all data.
