Acer and Asus suffer 40 percent declines in second quarter PC sales, says Gartner
TAIWANESE COMPUTER MAKERS Acer and Asus have produced rather appalling PC sales figures for Western Europe in the second quarter, Gartner reported, with both firms seeing over 40 percent declines in shipments since 2012.
Shifting 1.3 million PCs in the second quarter compared to the 2.36 million PCs it shipped in the same quarter last year, Acer saw shipments drop 44.7 percent year over year.
Acer's drop off in sales was mirrored in Garter's UK sales data, with Acer's PC sales falling 21.4 percent in Blighty.
Though Asus' sales weren't as worrying as Acer's, the firm wasn't too far behind its Taipei rival with shipments falling from 1.46 million in the second quarter of last year to a rather depressing 850,000 in the same quarter this year for a decline of 41.7 percent.
